Staex`s NEXA Project

Machine-to-Machine Economy

Enabling public-private partnerships to share and automate physical and digital resources to pursue new business opportunities while ensuring transparency, security, and inherent trust.

NEXA-I

In May 2024, Staex led a public-private consortium NEXA, consisting of nine partners: Vantage Towers, paymenttools, Berlin Partner, Chirp Wireless, Lisk, ICP, Germandrones, The Drivery, and Marienpark. NEXA is a lighthouse project of how applied web3-technologies can make a difference for the industry.

At the launch event in Marienpark Berlin, opened by Secretary of State Dr. Fischer, Staex showcased how partners benefit from a machine-to-machine economy. Staex demonstrated that the concept of a seamless and reliable machine economy is not just a vision — it can be realized today with Web3 technology. This opens up endless possibilities for new business opportunities transforming how industries automate and meet the ever-changing market demands.

Delivery drones will change the way we think about logistics and play an essential role in future smart city concepts, where Vantage Towers` infrastructure will be a key enabler. I am pleased that Vantage Towers will be at the forefront of shaping this exciting sector through the NEXA consortium. At Vantage Towers, we are always open to new business models that can share our infrastructure.

We are transforming Berlin into the number one innovation hub in Europe. The NEXA project of the Web3 drone corridor is forward-thinking and `Made in Berlin`: technologies such as drones, Web3 infrastructure, mobile communications and mobile payment services are combined in the project and have enormous economic potential for the coming years. The NEXA project is an excellent example of Berlin's role as a deep tech location and future lab.

Technical Breakdown of NEXA I

During the demonstration, a drone was used to capture data in real-time, including a video reel and information such as electromagnetic field readings around telecom towers. This data was immediately made available for purchase online. To ensure the authenticity and transparency of the collected data, metadata like location coordinates and timestamps were securely stored on the blockchain. This approach guarantees that the data remains trustworthy and immutable.

NEXA-I

In the emerging machine-to-machine economy, all stakeholders can engage in automated transactions with each other. The drone receives remuneration for providing data, data owner (telecom tower company) sells it to interested buyers, and the landowner receives payment for the use of their property during the operation.

All stakeholders, including the drone operator, data owners, and landowners, had clear and transparent access to smart contracts that outlined the rules and regulations governing the transactions. Staex played a crucial role by enabling seamless and secure communication between the machines involved in this ecosystem, ensuring reliable data exchange and transaction integrity throughout the process.

Realizing New Business Opportunities — NEXA II

In the upcoming phase of the NEXA project, we will enable industry partners to collaborate seamlessly and share resources, unlocking new business opportunities for all involved. Until now, new opportunities have been difficult to realize due to challenges related to trust, network security, and payment processing for services derived from physical and digital assets that are difficult to quantify.

NEXA-I

Staex addresses these challenges by creating a dynamic network connecting machines and devices across the partners, integrating with tools and technologies like smart contracts, on-chain data for verifiable integrity, and automation. This infrastructure allows a secure, reliable, and efficient environment for conducting business.
