On the 16th of June, Staex was honored with the Deep Tech Award 2021 by the Berlin Senate in recognition of remarkable deep tech innovations in the area of IoT and Industry 4.0.

One winner in each of five total categories was selected from more than 70 applications. Developing innovative and marketable products and deep tech solutions that provide support during the crisis and also offer a social and sustainable contribution to urban society - was the key to winning the Deep Tech Award 2021.

"The jury is highly convinced that distributed technologies of our IT and IoT infrastructures, and the economic models that are based upon them, will be completely changed. I think that we will see billions of connected devices with more and more intelligence, more and more storage capacity, more and more computational capacity, and not using these resources would be a shame", said Harald Zapp, founder, and CEO of Next Big Thing AG and the jury-member of Deep Tech Award while announcing the winner in the category IoT/Industry 4.0.

Staex founders Dr. Alexandra K. Mikityuk and Philip C. Toepffer participated in the award ceremony and happily received the prize. "We have very complex tasks ahead of us, but with such great support, I believe we are well equipped", - said Dr. Alexandra Mikityuk, CEO and co-founder of Staex.

The Deep Tech Award 2021 is an initiative of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises as part of the state initiative Projekt Zukunft and the DEEP TECH Berlin campaign. Every year, the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises awards the Deep Tech Award to small and medium-sized companies with innovative and application-oriented solutions based on software and hardware. The competition is endowed with 50,000 euros in prize money.
